The design takes its inspiration from Victorian wrought iron constructions and exotic ferns just visible through the condensation on the windows of glass houses. The pattern is named after the architect Charles Lanyon, who designed one of the earliest examples of a wrought iron palm house at Belfast Botanic Gardens in 1840.
