9 Months of Knitting was originally published in 2011, the first self-published book from the design duo Tin Can Knits. It has proven to be hugely popular amongst knitters looking for contemporary designs to knit for the family. One of the patterns featured is Gramps, a cute grandpa style shawl-collared cardigan with little pockets and coordinating patches of each elbow, just in the style my Granddad wore when I was a kid!
This pattern was originally only available in small sizes but there have been many requests for Emily and Alexa to release an adult version of the sweater. So not only can your baby be wearing Gramps this autumn, but you can knit one for yourself and anyone else in the family that fancy one too, including Granddad!
The pattern includes eight sizes for children (from 0-6 months) and nine adult sizes upto 4XL (59.5" chest).
The samples have been knit in Madelinetosh Vintage, a worsted weight yarn; sadly not one we currently stock but this yarn can easily be substituted for another yarn such as SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted. Make sure you do check you tension first by knitting a swatch as this will determine the finished size and the amount of yarn you will use.
Gramps is a top down seamless knit, worked in stocking stitch with the sleeves, button band, collar, pockets and elbow patches worked last. It is also available to download as an individual pattern too from our website.
This new edition of 9 Months of Knitting also includes a download code so you can store a digital copy to you tablet or computer.
